Data difference between dash and website stats - At the time I'm adding this issue there are 89,172 pageviews here https://simpleanalytics.com/fontsarena.com but in dashboard the thumbnail says 91,375 There are differences for all websites, but they're much smaller for less traffic.

Then if I want to view the results, like how well a category is performing, I can create a "Segment" referencing the dimension (like Author or Category). Its basically a filter that gets applied to the entire dashboard. As an example, I can say "category" contains "Every 30 Seconds", and I will only see data that filters to this condition. https://www.monsterinsights.com/how-to-create-google-analytics-advanced-segments/ There are other ways to do it in GA, it can get into the weeds a bit. Its part of the reason we are looking for a new solution. Its a complex tool and we want to make it easier for our team to find the data they need more quickly. Also, GA uses the segment tool to do some gross things from a privacy perspective. We have our data anonymized as much as possible and that still isn't enough. I'm not a lawyer, but I think you can protect your platform by a strong privacy policy and frequent warnings to users of how this can or cannot be used.

Enable users to add time markers - To mark major events on the time series with dotted vertical lines like the ones you use for e.g. v2 of SimpleAnalytics. Helps to contextualise data for public viewers.

Define goals/funnels to follow users flow within the site - From an entry point, I would like to find out how many of my viewers made it to a certain page, typically a contact or purchase page. Essentially determining the conversion rate. I understand that this may be difficult while keeping the analytics anonymous, so as a compromise another feature request would be to be able to identify the internal referrals of the pages. So while I may not be able to determine the whole funnel, I could at least identify, for instance, which page lead my viewers to the contact page. Bonus points if pages can be grouped together, e.g. /order/[id]/complete to /order/*/complete. Thanks!

Create Event Funnel - I'd like to be able to create an event funnel (like in https://i.stack.imgur.com/RqWRY.png) where I can more easily see where users dropped off.

Send alert to customers when website has no visits anymore - From a customer Since there was no traffic I was concerned so I noticed that the script was deleted in a previous push to my website. A good feature to consider is maybe an error message/email if the tracker stopped working.

Add to the docs what browsers are supported with the embed script

Send more data via the image.gif through URL parameters - One of our customers asked for a feature request and I think it's great: You provide the alternative tracking code <img src="https://api.simpleanalytics.io/hello.gif" alt=""> in the "noscript" tag, which is great. Obviously, this will be used for users who have JavaScript disabled. And it could even be used for companies that are handling extremely sensitive data and don't want to allow third-party JavaScript. Browsers and countries can be collected via the image-based solution as well. But today, it's more and more common to restrict how the referrer header is sent (to other origins, at least). One example of such a restriction is the HTML tag <meta name="referrer" content="origin"> that may be used in the "head" section of a document. How does your image-based (1x1 GIF) tracking code work with such restrictions? I imagine the referrer header is the only way you can associate the recorded data with the correct account or site, right? If the referrer header is not sent (or trimmed), tracking does not work. Couldn't you allow for the visited URL to be specified explicitly, instead of just accepting it implicitly from the referrer header? <img src="https://api.simpleanalytics.io/hello.gif?url=https://www.example.com/visited/page?supplied=params" alt=""> The explicit value could even be used as a fallback only, i.e. when the implicit value is not available. Google Analytics includes the account's or site's unique tracking ID in the code as well, which simplifies associating visits with sites. Let's put this on our roadmap and combine it when we work on our API. It's a nice Friday afternoon project.

Check if image.gif recording page view correctly - When gif is loaded it returns: thanks for reporting this error. It should record a page view of course. Error in pop-up hover for uniques - When looking only at the uniques (i.e. filtering out page views) the pop up hover says '8 page views' instead of '8 uniques'. When displaying the page views as well it gets rendered correctly ('20 page views, 8 uniques').

Comparing time periods to previous - I'd love to be able to compare a selected time period to another / a previous one. Ideell multiple options like "same period one year ago", "same period one month ago", "same period four weeks ago" (very useful as it aligns week days and thus cyclicality), "prior period", ...

Smooth out time series for longer periods - When you move from within day to week, unit of time extends from Hour to Day. Do similar UX when you move to Year: show week-to-week data points by default, because day-to-day is erratic and usually unnecessary. W4RNER

Aggregate/Bundle Domains for Summary Stats - More simply communicate topline analytics by being able to create a group of related domains (e.g. subdomains). This will be especially useful for mobile (iOS) app, where at the moment you can easily miss a traffic spike because you can only track 1 (sub)domain per widget!

Detect iPad correctly based on agent + pixels - iPads show sometimes as desktops instead of tablets. This is because of their user agent. We should check based on user agent + pixels. See HS

Create one email report for all websites - Me: Ah, good one on the stats for all websites combined. So you would want to have the traffic of all websites within the chart as one website? And the referrers will be mixed into one paragraph? If we put them all into one that might be a bit hard to read. If we make different sections per website the emails might become very long. What do you think? Customer: For the stats email I would make each website it's own section. Scrolling is not a problem for me, it's either scroll through one long email or click into and read multiple emails. See Help Scout

Change default date range and remember my preference - I would like to be able to set the default date range either globally or per site and for it to be remembered (website and app).

Support for FIDO2 Yubikeys - Add WebAuthn / FIDO2 standard for Multi Factor Authentication using Security keys e.g. Yubikeys.

Highlight new referrers - From a customer, and I think he's right. Let's highlight the new traffic sources in our tool: I left GA because highlight main metrics with big characters is a stressful point also I think the most important part of analytics is the source of trafic. I think you can make a big difference in this field, like curating top new sources of trafic (websites that never send trafic before). also I think the previous template is the most recognizable view of SA, it takes time to people to remember an interface and this one has a very good reach on social networks.

Compare time periods - Create an overlay of two time periods to be able to compare traffic. For instance this year compared to last year.

Don't remove slashes from URL-s (or add slashes and modify URLs) - I don't like the feature (this should be the bug actually) that SA removes trailing slashes from URL-s. It is not the job of the analytics app to modify URL in any way. It is up to individual website to create URL structure and redirects as it wants, analytics should not make wrong assumption how URL should look like. For SEO purpose Google explicitly states that it treats URLs separately and equally. So you can actually have different content on /page and /page/ URL (bad practice perhaps, but still, you can). SA would treat this as single page which is wrong. If you use trailing slashes on your web site, all the URLs SA displays might be non-existing URLs actually , and if you click on such URL from SA you might get 404 error (if you haven't made any redirection on your website) which cause confusion and bad UX in my case while I use SA. Also, by accident you might have both /page and /page/ returning the same content which is bad for SEO and duplicated content. I usually spot this mistakes in Google Analytics when I see both /page and /page/ in reports and then I apply redirect to force only one page. With SA I can't do that since SA will trim the slash from URL if exists and I don't actually know what is the exact URL user visited.

IPv6 Support - SimpleAnalytics is the only thing we use that doesn't have IPv6 support. It'd be nice to see this as some people are now getting IPv6-only internet.

Export Feature - I don't really have an idea how you would go about this but the general underline idea is that we can export the data, including the graph to send over an email (perhaps HTML) or export it as an Excel file to send over to a certain client or similar. The why behind it is, there is a couple of people I want to give data to for instance for this month but I don't want them to have access fully to my account and so on. Either that or different permissions for an account would also work.

Option to hide old public data - Like hide search engines, and top pages, have a "Hide data before (last month, last year)" Focusses visitors on recent info

Error - Wrong Visitor Country - I am vising from Serbia on my website, it shows Hungary, same for mobile. I haven't done any extensive checking but you need to do some GEO testing.

Make sure vat is always applied to all EU customers - And use reverse charge on their account if they have a valid vat id.

Embed Graph Into Website - Be able to embed the graph into the website so maybe on a transparency page in my website people can see all information

Allow customers to move domains between each other - Some of the most intensive customer support questions are moving domains. It would be great to have customers do this themselves. Allow a customer to send a domain to another account Ask if history of data should move with it (otherwise it will be deleted) Find another account by email address of that account Return error message if account is not found (yes you can detect if somebody has an account with SA, but you will need their email first) Create a page where new account can approve moving old account Send email to new account with message and link to approve page After they login they can approve the move On the approve page they see if history data will be moved with it (show warning when it's not moving with it)

Add data playground with screen dimensions - Would be cool to offer some extra information pages or some kind of data playground next to the dashboard. Somewhere where people can write little queries that will help others as well. I'm getting more and more excited about something like that, so we might include breakpoints as an example. For dimensions we could return something like this: 1440px x 900px 50% 400px x 420px 20% It does not have be part of the main view. Just some page within the playground could be fine. Goal > Filters > Path > contains - Hello folks; could you include an option in the goal filters to match if a string is contained in the path? Currently the options are is, is not, starts with. It would be good to include "contains" - which is more computationally expensive, but would be very very useful.

Page url hierarchical stats - If I have the stats for the following pages /a/b/page1 /a/b/page2 /a/c/page3 I'd like to see the cumulative stats on /a/, /a/b/, /a/c/ and at each level discover the best stats. for instance under /a/b/ I can see that page3 has more views than page2. or under /a/ I can see that /a/c/ has more cumulative views than /a/b/

Colleagues - I need a way for my colleagues to view website data. There is another feature request regarding roles but it includes teams, agency system and advanced billing features. I need to be able to add colleagues who can view a select number of websites. Letting them sign in via magic links is fine.

Fix browser extension for self-hosted simpleanalytics - I'm using SA at sa.example.com and the browser extension currently does not work with this setup; I would love if it did!

Breakdown Subdomains in Referrals - You could either separate them, or even better, have them aggregated in the base domain and you can separate them when you click on it

Add drlinkcheck.com and deadlinkchecker.com as robots - It seems like https://www.drlinkcheck.com/ and https://deadlinkchecker.com are not seen as robots, let's fix that.

Add sliding 24 hours period - Shows last 24 hours instead of today which starts at 0:00 Now one thing that bums me out about basically every analytics service is that there's no sliding 24h window and I just don't get it. When I get up at 5am, the "Today" view is absolutely useless. But since all do that, I guess it's me, not you. Let's add this!

Make light blue more readable - Sometimes people give some feedback about the light blue we use for links and some texts. It's a bit hard to read on light mode. Let's fix that.

Today Quick Select In App - One feature I would use every single day in the app is a quick shortcut that filters to today's date alone. My primary use for the app is monitoring daily traffic. Every day I filter and have to flick through the months. Sometimes I load the mobile website because it's a bit faster!

Fix inconsistencies with collect DNT setting - In our docs we are not consistent. Let fix that.

Add scrolled_percentage to Stats API - We added seconds_on_page, a customer is using scrolled_percentage. They don't really need it because they use the Export page views API and are happy with it. But would be nice to add anyway.

Import ad costs into Simple Analytics - Many simple analytics users drive website traffic through ads. Being able to import ad costs and create goal graphs like “cost per user” would be so helpful.

Make pages clickable

Visitors -> Visits - Hello folks; just a suggestion - but given the model, wouldn't it be better to use the term "Visits" rather than "Visitors". Essentially you count visits to the site, not visitors to the site - since you can't know that visit A and visit B are the same "visitor" but they count as two distinct "visits"

Support CORP Headers - There's new security headers that allow sites to specify which cross-domain resources are allowed to be loaded on their site and which of their resources can be loaded on others. One of those headers Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy allows for require-corp which says all third-party resources must also have a CORP header. Add tooltips / titles to flag icons in Live Visitors view - I often look at the live visitors view and see flags I do not recognize. Right now figuring out which countries these represent can be hard--having a tooltip on hover would be really useful!

Customers can subscribe twice during their trial - Let's not allow that because it can cause double charges. It might be due to a failed payment resulting in a retry and extra subscription by customer (see source for customer ID).

Expandable "Pages" section - Currently, longer URLs get truncated in "Pages". It'd be good to be able to expand into a bigger list/table view.

Change project domain - Today, if the project changes its URL, there's no way to update Simple Analytics to point to the new one instead, so the data of the previous domain won't carry to the new one that needs to be added from scratch.

Event webhook - When receiving an event send a webhook => Could help any SaaS or ecom trigger a flow upon an event. Of course pass on the metadata into it 💪

Scrollable projects dropdown - Currently while viewing a project's stats, the projects dropdown only shows a maximum of 5 projects, ordered alphabetically. To find more projects you must use the search input or click on "view all x projects". It'd be great to have all projects in this list instead, and if necessary, make the dropdown scrollable.

Allow VAT ID to be removed - Some customers just want to delete their VAT ID. Let's add a button in the UI to remove it.

Flatten spikes - It would be nice to be able to flatten out spikes from launching / other marketing activities. Perhaps a log graph would work, or maybe some other smoothing algorithm.

Non Domain Sites - It would be really cool if we didn't need domains for this. Instead of entering the URL we add an identifier and add some JS to the page. This is really useful for some production environments where your page doesn't always have the same domain.

Admin APIs for changing website visibility and deleting a website - System should support following Admin APIs: API for deleting a website API for changing website visibility(Public => Private)

Bar chart option - You guys rocking this product and I'm using this since start. If you can add option to show chart in bar also.

2FA / Two-factor authentication - Use best practices for implementing this. Think about blocking cross-country log-ins on sessions that looks suspicious, e-mail/SMS-codes and your usual two-factor authentication through a QR scan with backup codes. Also useful in terms of compliance.

Resetting data still shows data for the "today" view - When I reset my statistics (was testing out some stuff and wanted to delete the data afterward before waiting for real user data), the data gets reset for all views, except for the "today" view (everything still shows when switching to that view, but disappears if you go back to week/month view).

Add tests for subdomains in our public script - On our automated tests we run in a few situation where we can't test certain features. For example when we detect a unique page view we compare the referrer with the current hostname. We need to test if that works with www subdomains. In BrowserStack we can only run the tests from localhost. To fix this we need to overwrite the readonly variables: Object.defineProperty(document, "referrer", get: () => "https://www.duckduckgo.com" ); Although this does not work for hostname: Object.defineProperty(location, "hostname", get: () => "www.example.com" );

Offer API histogram data in hours as well as in days - We currently show histogram data per day. That works well. But per hour would even be better. Tasks: Add interval parameter with options like hour/day(/week/month) Make sure the default is always day (because it always worked like that) Make the interval parameter optional Keep same version number because the old API still works

Improve embed script highlighting and add copy button - Fix highlighting in dark mode in script embed Add copy embed code button When highlighting a code area in darkmode, it's basically impossible to tell what you've highlighted (in this image the script is highlighted and ready to be copied). Additionally it would be nice to have a button to copy that script instead of having to highlight it + copy it myself (you do this in other places such as your contact page's company details) Overall though I absolutely love the product and the website! As a fellow software developer you guys are doing it right.

Allow customers to verify their domain automatically - We have some customers that need to validate their domain. Give every domain a unique verification code Allow customer to lock their domain to prevent automatic verify of their active domain (this lock is removed when a domain is removed; this lock is intended when bigger teams have access and want to prevent team members to move any domains) Allow customers to verify any non locked domain that's (previously) registered Create a page with instructions that shows their verify code (see email below) Make a crawler that checks for the 3 methods Meta tag TXT DNS record CNAME DNS record Move domain to new account after validation succeeded Make sure domains that are added this way do not show history Email customers now get to verify If you don't have access to the other account you can always transfer the domain name to your account. Possible bug: Brave/macOS in login screen - As reported by Frédéric Harper via Twitter: small bug: on the login page, if I click password, and choose email back, the elements on the page doesn't change back to email login only. I have not yet been able to reproduce this myself, only that it does seem to be working fine under Firefox and Chromium. We should check with Brave and see what might be going on there.

Collect page views via backend plus frontend - We already support frontend collecting of page views and events. How awesome would it be to support both backend and frontend tracking? Unfortunately, you will miss some data when you only use backend tracking. Time on page, better robot detection, scrolled percentage, ... is only doable via the frontend. How about a way to do both? A backend is better at sending a request to Simple Analytics than a frontend. A frontend can fail to execute due to JavaScript errors, it can have ad-blockers, it can be blocked on a network level. But if you track both via frontend and backend it will cause double data. What if we connect them both? Let's say you add a backend script that will send a unique ID to the frontend. The frontend can take care of getting the metrics only the frontend can collect. The backend will collect the traffic that is not tracked via the frontend. This way our customers can always collect everything they need. Backend > send a request to Simple Analytics > pass ID to frontend Frontend > send a request to Simple Analytics (with ID from backend) Simple Analytics combines both requests into one page view based on the generated ID of the backend.

Archive project - Would be nice to be able to archive a project, similar to archiving a Github repo (making it read-only). I sold a project, but I want to keep the data archived. The data should stop at the day I archived the project, so I don't get perpetual blank/zero visits.

Remove all suppressions from Mailgun when a login fails - Mailgun sometimes adds emails to their bounces list. Super annoying for customers that have a full mailbox or have a temp unavailable mailbox. Let's empty that list every time we get a mailgun error for a certain email.
